I have heard that Prague is a very good city to visit, and I am currently planning to spend about 3 days there this May. After reading some of these boards, i've found that some people have been disappointed. So I'm just wondering what some of you thought, what you would recommend doing there, whether 3 days is enough/too much, or any other thoughts.
thanks!

Well, BigRay loved it enough to move there! I hope you've read his posts in the Ray in Prague section. Not sure why people were disappointed in Prague. Everyone has their own "movie" in their head of what things will be like and expectations obviously vary from person to person. What made you choose Prague in the first place - what interests you? Three days is only just enough (IMHO) and would only really allow for some city sightseeing and maybe a day trip out to Kutna Hora. No doubt you've read about some of these places, but let me give a few suggestions: Hradcany, Old Town Square, Jewish Cemetery, a river cruise, a beautiful part of town called Mala Strana (Little Quarter; small alleys, cobblestone streets, great to get lost in and explore), a photo of Charles Bridge (Karlov Most) at night (preferably from Kampa Island!), wash down a fried cheese snack or Czech rösti (Bramboráky) with a Pilsner Urquell or Budvar. These are just a handful of suggestions - I'm sure the others will have plenty to add and convince you to keep it in your itinerary.

I strongly suggest Prague. It's in my top 5 and i've travelled extensively through Europe. This city is amazing and Madamtrashheap is right, there are great spots!

if i was the one who said that, let me put it into perspective:
i've been there twice, in 1990 & again in the late 90's. [1st time between the "Velvet Revolution" and the "Velvet Divorce."] so, there was a big difference between the atmosphere of the two trips.
after the excitement in Prague of 1990, it was a letdown to see it in more "mundane" everyday life which came later. i just had too high expectations that it would be the same, an unrealistic expectation.

I can understand what you mean - I was in Berlin before the Wall came down and when it came down (words can't describe the feeling) and to go back there 10 years after the fall was a different atmosphere, although I still loved it just in a different way. However, if you've never been then go bescrap, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
