I'm heading through europe in May and wanted to make a stop in Luxembourg. I've been before and enjoyed it, but was just curious what other people thought of it? I noticed it seems to get skipped over when peopel talk about itineraries.
What's the deal with Luxembourg.

Well it's very small ... it's good for a day, but that's about it. If you compare it to other cities in Europe, you can compare it with a city the seize of Delfshaven. (about 75,000) OK seize doesn't matter, but it's also not the most attractive city for buildings, museums, history etc. Just as an example nearby Trier (in Germany) has a lot more to offer.
I think that most people, will have more fun in adding a day in Paris, London, Vienna, Rome etc ... then making the effort to see Luxembourg. (And that makes it more attractive for other people)
If I have to pick one place in Luxembourg to spend a day, I would spend that day in Vianden, to see the Castle and the nice scenery.

Herrbert is right. I'd do it, but not for too long and only if it's on your way. I was in Lux City and liked it, but it wasn't such a wower! xxo

Same same. Luxembourg is fun for a quick stopover, but kind of misses out in the intinerary stakes as most people don't know much about it (same fate as Liechtenstein) nor what to see there. Plus it's not exactly bursting with cheap accommodation options. I enjoyed the one night I spend there (plus driving through almost the entire country on the way from Belgium to Germany as a fun detour and discovering that it's more forested and hilly than I thought) but I guess the fact that it's one of the most expensive countries in the world puts people off. In 2007 it's a European Capital of Culture, so mabye this will draw more attention to it.
I second Vianden, but Luxembourg City was also good to see in terms of an eclectic mix of buildings/architecture.
