Could someone please give me a good idea of what the nightlife in Prague is all about and if its worth making the trip there.

Prague nightlife is mixed. It can be absolutely awesome, whereas other times it can be pretty poor.
Generally if you do your research, like bars (especially out of town, towards Holesovice and Zizkov) and Czech Beer then you can't really go wrong. Personally I'd avoid clubs though, there's just far too many touts, drug dealers and pimps around the place to make it worthwhile just trying to find a club - the likelihood is that you'll be ripped off. Club wise though I've had some good nights at Roxy (www.roxy.cz) - it's definitely worth a visit, plus it's not too expensive (although drinks can be on the slightly pricey side). Also there's no hassle there, which is a massive benefit. Overall it's definitely worth making the trip there.
