In a month and a half, my husband, myself and two friends are going to visit my sister in Galway, Ireland. This 10-day trip will go by so quickly so we are attempting to plan out the time as perfectly as possible. The first three days will be in Ireland where my sister is. She has those days planned, but the 3 days stay in London is up to me to plan. I have no idea what to do or see due to the unlimited options. My husband and I have never been there, while my sister and the two friends have. (although they are not helping with any suggestions on what to do)
Here are our trip plans so far.... obiviously we are backpacking (i'm a little worried about having the right clothes for the last week in october), staying in hostels (astor museum inn? globetrotter inn?) attempting to make a memorable trip while being extremely money conscious
Everyone in the group is pretty easy going so I would love any suggestions. Thanks

I stayed at the Museum Inn. I didn't think much of it, so I would try the other one. The problem for me at the Museum Inn, was the size of the bed. and I am not really that tall. (1,75), but I do like to sleep fully streched. The location is perfect though. (close to the British Museum, and in 5 minutes walk of Holborn and Tottenham Court Station. But there are a lot of other hostels in London. As long as you have a tubestation nearby, you can get everywhere.
If you want to be money conscious, than skip at least the Eye and St. Pauls. Both beautiful, but totaly overpriced. Most of the museums are free, so you can walk into the British or Tate without spending money. But you are right, there is a lot to see in London. I think it would be best to make a list of the must-sees, and a list of the wanna-sees. A lot of the landmarks you will find along the Thames, and I would suggest to make a would on the South Bank, starting at the Houses of parliament (or at Westminster), and make the walk to the Tower Bridge.
The right clothes for October? It can be really cold in October, and you should enticipate on having rain. Which in a big city as London is not that hard, as there are a lot things to be done indoors.
