Link hereUnless I'm getting the translation wrong (there's no English translation page on the website), Culture week runs from March 25, 2008 to March 31, 2008. All state-run museums, archaeological sites and galleries are free of admission. They include Pompeii, Accademia, Uffizi, Last Supper painting, Mt. Vesuvius and so on... Vatican City is not included (i.e. Vatican Museums). So a great way to save money on the ridiculous admission fees in Italy. I had the opportunity to be part of it last year and it saved me tons of money and stress.

That's right PONR, those are the dates for the "Week of Culture" in Italy. In addition to free entry to musuems, sites, etc, there are also extra exhibitions and shows on in cities around the country to coincide with the week. Hopefully any Members travelling there can take advantage of your "heads-up"!
I was in Berlin for the "Long Night of the Musuems" (Lange Nacht der Museen) this January and althought they aren't free, there was a Combined Ticket for the paticipating musuems (all the big ones) and public transport that was Euro15 which allowed access from 6pm on 26th January until 5am on 27 January. Needless to say it was huge and very popular - still can't get over walking around musuems at 2am!
