so it seems that a lot of people on this board love Vienna and keep suggesting travelers to plan at least 3 or 4 days there.
I stayed in Vienna for 3 nights on a 2 month Europe trip, and while I thought Vienna was gorgeous, I found myself quite bored after a day and a half. I know this might sound blasphemous to some of you, but by the time that I got to Vienna, I had already been traveling for more than a month, including about 2 weeks in France and about 2 weeks in Italy. I had seen so many museums, castles and churches that by the time I got to Vienna, I couldn't handle any more. On my last day in Vienna, I took a day trip to Bratislava because I didn't really know what else to do.
Not trying to start a fight or anything, just wanted to share my experience. I suspect that I would've had a very different experience if my itinerary was different.

while I thought Vienna was gorgeous, I found myself quite bored after a day and a half. what interests you? Vienna is full of splendid buildings, museums, palaces, a beautiful riverfront and great food. not to mention the wonderful music there. as the Viennese might say, "Geschmacksache" - it's a matter of preference. - d

I agree with you- "Vienna is full of splendid buildings, museums, palaces, a beautiful riverfront and great food." But again, I had just spent 1 month between Italy and France, I was just museumed out and Vienna felt almost over indulgent.
You're certainly right about the music in Vienna! During my 3 nights there, I saw 2 operas and one Mozart concert.

I know what you mean, when you say you have had enough of the paintings, the palaces, and the buildings. But I think it could also have happened in another city. To be honest, I have had enough of museums myself. (at least the ones, with paintings covering the walls).
But in Vienna, you could have made some other choices. Like going to the cementary (maybe sounds weird, but it is worth a visit), or take a bus up the Kahlenberg (great view & historical place) and take a walk through the vineyards of Vienna, to the top of the hill. Prater.
You did make the right decision to go to Bratislava. If you are tired of a city see if there are daytrips.
