Hi,
I want to hire a kombi or such like mostly for Scotland. An option is to take one from Heathrow but dont know how long and $$$ to get to Scotland. Also, whats the legal way of sleeping in a van?
Any leads appreciated and I can work from there.

I travelled from London Stansted to Scotland by car and we took two days for the trip. I think it can be done in one day, but we did'nt want to rush it. We spent a night in York. The trip Stansted-York took about 6-7 hours (digging deep... very deep in my memory, it's been a while). The next day we made it to Scotland (Inverary) in about 5 hours. For the route Stansted-York we mostly took the highway up north, the second day we mostly did the scenic route (but hey, even highways in Scotland are scenic ). I agree with Ging, If I were to do the same trip again, I'd take a cheap flight to Scotland. We stayed in hostels, so I don't know anything about sleeping in a van. Cat

Hi,
Thanks guys for the info. On the camping side, I found that virtually everything is OK as long as you dont make a public nuisance of yourself. It was in the "wild walking in Scotland" website. I left the link at home ;-).
I'm looking at flying to Scotland probably, and then drive back to Heathrow at this stage.

Here's another good site for camping in Europe if you haven't already seen it: www.karmabum.comKim
