Would anybody know if there are trains running from Igoumenitsa or surrounding area, to Athens, its not marked on the map, they only have a bus route from Ioannina, east of Igoumenitsa, to Athens.
Thanks, Ludko

There are no trains to Igoumenitsa. The closest you can get is Kalambaka, near the monasteries of Meteora.

True the train from Igoumenitsa is not possible, the bus is your best alternative, it actually goes via ANTIRIO and you get on a ferry boat for about 10 minutes and cross over to RIO which is very close to PATRAS on the peloponnese. This saves heaps of travelling time to get to Athens. For more info on travel in greece check out www.gtp.gr hopefully this will help you out a bit?? Gook Luck!

According to LP, there are 3 buses a day Igoumenitsa to Athens. The journey takes 8 hours, and cost 8300 GRD (take these prices as guide only, nowadays they are quoted in Euros anyway). It should be the shortest way, other than flying (nearest airports are at Korfu or Ionina).
