Can you get a ferry from the saronic gulf islands to the Peloponese? I am going from piraeus to the cyclades, back to piraeus and then to the saronic gulf. I will be going to Italy after Greece by ferry from the peloponese so with the saronic gulf islands being so near to the peloponese it would be easier to go straight there instead of having to go back to piraeus.
Any ideas? Emma

The Saronic islands are near the eastern coast of the Peloponese. The ferries to Italy leave from Patras on the western edge of the Peloponese. There is no good connection between Patras and any place the boats from the Saronic islands go to, so it won't save you any time.

The Saronic Gulf is not so far from Piraeus, even if you go to Hydra!!! Patras is waaaaaaaaaaaay on the north-west corner of the peloponnese, and no ferries connect to there from the saronic gulf. you will actually save time and hassle if you just get back to piraeus!!!
Then either train it (yuck greek trains suck and are always late, its meant to take 5 hours but normally takes about 7) but i recommend the bus as it only takes 3 hours and they depart every 30 minutes. You need to get to Bus Terminal A but taxi drivers will know of it as 'KIFISSO'. A cheaper alternative to the taxi is to catch bus 051 from near OMONIA which takes you straight there. The bus stop for this is corner ZINONOS and MENANDROU.
Good Luck and enjoy your trip!!
