is there a "best" material (silk) or material combo (silk polyester) for a sleep sheet? I would think that some locations can be quite warm at night so that would make cotton unadvisable, yes? (From winter running, I know silk has good wicking quality ... ) any other material ... I'm there may be an opinion or two here so ... thanks in advance ...

thinkingabouteurope, the only two materials I've seen for Sleeping Sheets are Silk and Cotton. Of the two, Silk seems to be the preferred material for either summer or winter travel. Cotton is comfortable, but tends to be heavier and somewhat more "bulky" to pack. I usually pack a Silk Sleep Sheet along as it's very compact and light, but rarely use it as most Hostels provide sheets with the cost of the room.
Cheers!!!

Good evening, and pardon the late reply. I can strongly suggest, having just returned from two months in Scandinavia, that in Scandinavia - Norway & Finland in peticular, a sleep sheet is an absolute must. Not only do most hostels not have sheets for hire, but if they do - it'll cost you an arm and a leg. I took a cotton, homemade one - which I would not take again as it was far too bulky & got extremely hot sometimes. For my next travels, I'll definitely be opting for one of the Silk Dreamsacks.

thank you for the replies, eagle and speedbird ... after considering your information I am buying a silk sleep sheet. I was confused on ebay ... one person was touting a silk/polyester saying it was more durable than 100% silk ... anyhow, I found a silk sleep sheet from New Zealand on eBay for $24.50 plus $5.00 shipping and there were 25 available. Last I looked I was the only one who had bid. The item description read like a durable product to me ... very experienced on eBay ... not so much travel, for you consideration. Happy travelling!
