Driving Italy

Hi, I've been blessed (I think) with the use of a car for 11 days in Italy.  I pick up in Milan and drop off in Rome, mid to end of April. I'm trying to put together a loose itinery-milan>venice for day trip>then back east and south as far as I can get>back to Rome.  If any one has any must see's or off the beaten track locations, suggestions or general driving/parking tips please forward them here or direct to [e-mail].  I hoping that its the stuff in between the major cities that will be the most exciting.
