Does anyone have experience using the TGV in Paris? I am going from Paris to Bern. Should I purchase these tickets in advance or will i be able to buy them a couple of days ahead?

Any travel agent should be able to hook you up with that. And Nit is right, that's peak time and I would suggest you get your reservation before hand.

This is the 7.44 train.
If you're sure you want to take this train, you can book on the SNCF website. You get 40% discount if you purchase the ticket 30 days in advance (subject to availibility).
