I have heard from various travellers that once you are in Europe, you can quite often find cheap flights to various places within Europe. For example, I will want to fly from San Sebastian to Paris - is it fairly easy to organise flights when in London? I'm just trying to figure out ways to cut back on travel time but I don't want to blow my budget completely

I don't think you would find a cheap flight for this particular route (San-Seb to Paris). Most low-budget airlines sell directly on-line or by phone, and it makes no difference where you do that... you might find good offers for domestic flights at local travel agencies, or charter flights to holiday destinations.

Agree.....most of the dirt cheap budget airfares in Europe are internet only (sometimes by phone but not often) and most need 14 days advance for the really cheap prices. If you wait till a couple of days before you are ready to fly you might find exceptionally high prices.
An example....I booked a Galway to London flight about a month out on Ryan air for 8 GBP......once there I decided I wanted to return a day or two early....the flight was now 179 GBP! This was in January of this year. Doubt the situation has changed much.
If you think you are going to be using the cheap airlines it is going to require a bit of planning on your part as to what day and when you want to fly and booking it in advance.
