I bought mine from Kathmandu for half price (they often have sales at half price, I have been told that is about how much they are worth and not to pay any more). I have a hybrid pack (opens down half way) better than a top loading pack which can get really annoying. Other people I know who have bought MacPacks have been really happy with them, you can get them from many backpacker/travel type stores.

johndekay, as starprincess mentioned, MacPaks have a really good reputation, and I've heard the quality is excellent. Unfortunately, I've never had a chance to look at them as they're not available in Canada AFAIK.
You could also check the Eagle Creek website under the section for "International Dealers". From what I recall, they have quite a few stocking dealers in Australia (I counted at least five dealers in Sydney-if they don't have a particular Pack in stock, I'm sure they can order it from the factory).
Again as starprincess mentioned, it's a good idea to decide whether you prefer a top-loader or a panel-loader (with zippers). I find the panel loaders much more accessible, and these are also lockable, which provides a slight amount of security (some of the top-loaders just have a drawstring on the top).
Whichever Pack you decide to buy, it's IMPORTANT to ensure that you are properly fitted acccording to your torso length. Other features such as a detachable Day pack and a "stowable" harness are a matter of personal preference. I find the stowable harness is a good idea, as this protects the straps from being torn-off by airport baggage handling equipment.
Good luck with your purchase!!!
