Has anyone stayed at the town of Portovenere? Any thoughts? And, how far is this town from La Spezia -- how would you get back and forth between the two?

We are staying in Portovenere, and would like to do some day trips, perhaps even to Milan or Florence. Would that work out okay?

Haven't been there myself, but there is a nice webpage: www.portovenere.it with some information about the place.
