I'm travelling around Europe in January after studying abroad. I'm going to end up flying home from London once I'm finished. I've been scouting some cheap flights for the return for around $300. Would it be worth it to book a return flight now or would I end up saving money if I went standby or searched for cheap flights in January?

Hi! I think only you can decide if you are willing for the price to go up. It all depends on what type of flight it is.
Regular flights are booked this way: the cheapest seats are sold first, and the closer you get to the date of the actual flight, the prices get skyhigh!
Charter Flights (nolisée in french I think is charter..sorry) are booked the other way around: they book the more expensive ones first, and the closer you get to due date, the cheaper the seats are.
Depending on what type of flight it is, you may want to book now to be sure of the price, or wait and get a better deal in the last 1-2-3 weeks before you return.
I think it all depends on your opinion, personnally, I'd book it now, cause I am sure it will not go down much with a flight that is already only 300$, you may end up having payed a few dollars more, but you might also regret and have to pay a couple hundred more!
Go with what you think is best, if you think you are willing to wait, it's your opinion!

If you are on a totally 'free' return time frame.....$365 RT is about the cheapest I have come across in 3 years for HTR from the US east coast/midwest area......one way is always more, way more than half of RT....but $300 seems a bit high. Are you working on an open jaw or open return ticket??

Completely true! From Canada it's more expensive, Sorry I thought it was only for the roundtrip, for one way though it will be nearly the same price as the return, maybe like dustoff mentionned, you should take an open ticket! xoxo Jen

The $300 quote is a roundtrip fare since, like you said, the one ways can be just as expensive.
