A friend of mine will be flying to visit the boyfriend (also his friend) from Oxford to Geneva on Thursday. While in Switzerland he would like to visit Lucerne and/or Interlaken.
In the U.K he has gotten used to traveling by coach and finds it convenient. But most importantly it's CHEAP!!!
He's trying to keep his costs down in Switzerland and would like to know info about getting from:
Geneva - Interlaken Geneva - Lucerne Lucerne - Interlaken
I know the majority of people on here are rail travelers but I was hoping someone could help me out here!
He has no rail pass. Is the train a better alternative?
Thanks in Advance!!

buses can certaily be a different way to get there. but my understanding is that Swiss buses are generally operated by the train system, and therefor are no cheaper than rail. if there are private buses, that may be a better deal!
UK is well known for its *much* cheaper coach system. hadn't heard that about Switzerland.
let us know if you find otherwise!

Hey CT, I would bet dollars to donuts that Nit will have this answer for you. ;D However, he doesn't frequent the boards as often as he used to, so you might try emailing him directly if he doesn't pop in with an answer. I have no help to offer, being pretty much a straight train gal. g

Hey CT, Yeah, the bus in pretty much every case is usually cheaper - cause it takes longer. If he isn't worried about time, it is the budget option. One of the bus companies for Switzerland is Eurobus - they don't have any prices posted online but they have a part where you can email them your journies and they will email you back: www.eurobus.ch/english/default.htmYou could always ask them if they don't do those routes what company does.
