Can anyone advise a good way to get from Rome to Amsterdam. I would like to keep it as cheap as posible but would prefer not to spend a full day driving, I guess unless I can arange to do it at night in a sleaper bed.
I will be workign in Italy for a few weeks and have about 8-9 days to myself. Have never been to Europe and am very excited.
Thanks

Hello - and welcome to the boards! Thanks for joining us! OK Rome to Amsterdam, this is what I've come up for you so far. Option 1 Fly from Rome to Brussels - approx 2 hrs and 10 minutes, unsure of your dates but when I selected a random date, it showed 30 Euros for a one way. This is using Ryanair www.ryanair.comFrom Brussels, you could then take a train to Amsterdam, which would take about 2.5 hours, probably cost you 35-40 Euros. Option 2 Fly Virgin Express from Rome straight to Amsterdam. Showed 65 Euros for a one way book on the web flight. www.virginexpress.com/Not sure if you will need a round trip ticket or not - do you have to fly out from Rome? Stop in to the "Living Room" section and introduce yourself, we'd love to hear about what kind of job you do that lets you travel to Rome! Kim

Other cheap options could be Basiqair(.com), flies to Amsterdam from Naples and Pisa, or Meridiana(.it), flies from Florence to Amsterdam. But as long as Virgin Express has relatively cheap tickets, they are your best choice. And sometimes the old national airlines like KLM and Alitalia have great special offers, so I would advise you to check them out, too. Especially if you plan on buying a return trip.
