Having just taken this route I can tell you that on the Eurostar trains Bologna to Rome is approx 1 hr 15 min, to Florence just about the same, and to Venice in the area of 4 hours. If you need 'specific' times let me know, these are approximations. Venice to Rome is 5 1/2 hours, to Florence from Venice is 2 1/2 and the stop for Bologna is about one hour before Rome. And you will likely find that Ryan Air is the cheapest route between London and Paris and/or Brussells...assuming you book early and grab one of their super cheap flights. If you do that, they will always beat any boat or train for price, if not necessarily time. Just don't forget to figure in transportation costs to and from their often out of the way airports in the equation. For example, in London it will cost you 13-15 pounds to get the train to Stansted. But, if you have a 5 pound flight cost (which is normally easy to get BTW) then you are looking at 20 pounds total.....still cheaper than train or boat.
