Hey all, I'm loking for ways to get from London to Paris very cheaply. So far I've found a flight with Easyjet.com at $85 Canadian return. It leaves from Luton in London & then goes in Charles de Gaulle. It seems pretty impressive to me. I still don't get how it can be SO cheap But hey I'm not complainning. I have also tried looking for info about taking the ferry from Dover to Calais. I know to get from Calais to Paris I'd be able to use my Eurail pass but I don't know how much it would cost to get from London To Dover & how much a ferry would cost. Does anyone have any prices? Or a site that I could get some concrete prices? It seems like doing it by boat might make for a really long travel day as with the flight it seems like in less the 4hrs we'd be done. Hopefully someone can help me out because I haven't had much luck Thanks!

You might also want to look at the flybmi.com web site. They often have flights for 13 pounds + taxes for flights from Heathrow to CDG.

the ferry takes like 6 hours i think. by train it's three hours via eurostar. i took eurostar from london to paris last july...really smoothe and relaxing. drops you off at train station gare du nord in paris if i'm not mistaken. and easy access to the metro from there.

Dover-Calais the ferry takes between 1 hr and 1.5hrs depending on the ship, the absolute maximum it'll be is 1.75 hrs- also the ferries only stop if the weather is really, really bad (pretty much never). As for trains between London and Dover, do a search on www.thetrainline.com - I did that last December and it cost me £25 for both the ferry and train return, with a UK Young Person's rail card (The train station in Dover is Dover Priory btw). From there you can take the free shuttle bus straight to the ferry- the same happens in Calais with a shuttle bus to the train station. Considering that you have a Eurail pass this will probably be the cheapest way from London to Paris, failing that you could try finding a Eurolines coach (go to www.nationalexpress.com and then click 'Europe and Ireland')- these are pretty cheap as well.

BTW- have you factored into account the cost of getting from London to Luton? It's a fair way out of London.

Take the Eurostar, you can usually get fares as low as $45 US from raileurope.com if you book in advance. It takes about 3 hours from Waterloo Station London to Gare du Nord Paris. I would rather take the train then dealing with the hassle of getting to Luton, and having to check your bag.
