I have found a cheap flight from London Luton airport to get to paris to save time and maybe money. Is london luton way too far out of the way for it to be worthwhile. has anyone flown out of this airport. what about london stansted, heathrow, gatwick. how much money will it take to get from the city to these airports? do i take a cab (split with one person) or are there shuttles/buses?

i know heathrow airport is connected with the Tube (subway system), if you plan on taking the subway alot in london, which i recommend, it's a great source of transportation.... get a day or week pass, that will save you from buying numerous tickets. The tube will take you pretty much anywhere in the city! have an awesome trip

Hey Mustang...there are several posts on this very subject, with detailed and quite specific info...right in this forum. Can you do a search and then come back with any additional questions you have? And if you have trouble with the search....holler!

ok i read that a bus/train to luton would be 8-10 pounds, which is pretty good, considering the flight to Paris will only be about 20 pounds.
I have booked a super cheap flight into London in early may, but I can't find one back to Toronto for less than about 350$ Canadian in late june.

Just curious....you have a 'one way' ticket to London in May? One Way? With no return ticket to Canada at all, is that correct? In this day and age one way tickets seem to be HUGE red flags. And many countries won't even allow you in unless you have proof (tickets) of your departure. Was just thinking that you will likely be a 'security beacon' and there's a good chance you will be searched, questioned heavily, and generally hassled. I'd be sure to get to the airport extra early. Yikes!

Our kid had a one way ticket to France last summer, and will have one again when he returns home in July. It was just the way things worked out, because his plans were hazy, as were ours. He had no problems going out. I am glad that we managed to get him a good fare on our same London > Denver flight home. If he gets questioned and searched a lot, so be it, we'll vouch for him. I flew nonrev a couple years ago, and got searched/wanded etc every single time. I was flying for free, so couldn't complain a whole lot.

But I think the difference might have been Cil that he was going there to study/work and could prove it...right? That's a bit different than someone just flying in for rec travel. Never experienced it myself, but everything I read says one way equals big security hassles.

I'll ask him if he had to show anything proving he was a student last August. He did not report any problems back then.

Well I talked to the kid about his one way setup last August , and he said nobody questioned the fact that his itinerary was one way, Denver to Lyon. Maybe he had that "innocent young student" look.
