had been planning to start my trip with an overnight from Lisbon to Lagos - listed in Rick Steve's "E. Through the Back Door" as going 23.00 to 06.45. but, in trying to buy tix before i leave, RailEurope sez no such train exists.
anyone have any insight here?

have decided to spend that 1st night in Lisbon. will probably be tired and not want to push it that 1st day. too bad that night train is out.  |

HOLY MOLY!  David, I had no idea that you were ever intending to take a night train on the very day you arrived! FWIW I personally am thrilled that train is not running. I don't think I would have been alone in trying my best to talk you out of that plan. Your jet lag would have lasted for days and days. Staying that first night in Lisbon will get you off on the right foot.  |

that's what i did on my last trip to lisbon. took a night train to Madrid the day i got there. [but i went back later - couldn't get an open jaw flight on that trip]
