Ryanair's front page on their website always has specials posted. Some are great deals, like Dublin-Faro for 49 euros. But when I plug in the right dates after clicking "Book Now", it shows a price of 260 euros! How can I get the 49 euro flight?

It's possible those seats have already been sold! The cheapest seats often sell out really quickly.
If you can, try changing the dates and times.

I've found as well that you often have to really play around with Ryan to get the really low fares. Certain days of the week, certain dates and particularly time of day can really influence the price you get. And as WT said, those cheapest fares sell out quickly so if you are needing a flight from them you actually need to make it a habit to check their site almost daily to catch 'sales' when they first hit the net.

That's weird. The sale said between March 12-15, so I must've been one of the first people to see it. And I did play around with the dates. That's why I was so puzzled I had to come here. Have any of you ever booked a Ryanair special for the same price as advertised on the front page?

yep....several times. Especially last years trip to UK/Ireland....had flights to/from London for 4.95 GBP. However, when I thought to shorten my time in Ireland by 2 or 3 days and return to London, well, trying to book a flight on short notice was going to cost in the neighborhood of 120 GBP! It's all about the 'early' booking with them I have found. Not sure why you are having such problems, if that is the word, as I have normally had very good luck with their site.

Have any of you ever booked a Ryanair special for the same price as advertised on the front page? Possibly, but maybe people in Europe got a crack at it while you were sleeping? I have seen Ryanair fares as low as they claim (like in the 1 Euro range) when I was just doing comparative research.

I've got the quoted fare quite a few times now, it's all in the timing, remember that some routes are more popular than others etc as well.
Also, these prices don't include tax- it's worth looking at other airlines as well as the likes of Ryanair as they can often be cheaper (e.g. in the summer I'm flying to Barcelona with BA- it's actually cheaper to go with them than easyjet).
