Hi all, I am intending to do some solo backpacking. My itenerary is as follows:
Zurich to Rome Rome to Milan Milan to Paris Paris to Zurich
I am planning a 2 week tour. Was wondering if I should just use the Eurail Pass or have a combo, because the rates on RyanAir looks real cheap!
Any advise?

For two weeks I'd say if you have the funds to do so I would consider doing at least the Zurich to Rome and Milan to Paris routes by plane. And I would likely just get PTP tickets if by train unless you are planning any short 'day' trips as well. Even then I doubt you'd really find the pass to be an overall good value vs air or PTP.

Hi, can you recommend any flights out of Zurich? I've tried easyjet.com and ryanair.com and none of them seem to have any flight from Zurich to Rome..

James On TISS.Com, they show Alitalia flying from Zurich to Rome, but it wasn't cheap. Check out ETN and maybe you can find something. www.etn.nl/discoun2.htm********************************************* Zurich, Switzerland to Rome, Italy To build your trip, pick a departing flight. A non-refundable service fee is included in the displayed price. Hi Cil, USD400 is really on the high side Guess I will make do with this arrangement: Zurich to Rome: Eurail Rome to Paris: RyanAir (Euro39.99) Paris to Zurich: Eurail As such, I guess I will not be buying the Eurail pass, but the one-off ticket instead. Another question I will like to ask is if I want to travel from Rome to Milan, v.v, should I use Eurail or Italy's internal train service? Many thanks! =)

Just wondering, are you visiting Milan for a specific reason? Because it seems to be a common opinion here on the boards that Milan is one of the least favorite cities to visit... Maybe you would enjoy a city like Venice or Florence more? Unless of course you are visiting family in Milan or something.... I'm sure a few other people could give you some great alternate options!
