Hi all- I'm trying to find some information on how long I need to budget for changing planes in Heathrow. Our flight comes in from the US at 7:05am and we plan on heading from there to Italy via plane. I've found a cheap flight from Heathrow to Naples, but it leaves at 9:00am--only two hours after. Seems too close to me, but does anyone think we could reasonably make it? My other option would be to change airports and fly from Stansted to Rome-CIA with six hours to make the plan (and it would be about 33 pounds cheaper). Thanks for the help- --Tim

For what it is worth.....I have taken 5 flights to Heathrow now and the closest to on time any of them have ever landed is 45 minutes late! The one this last December was just a hair under two hours late leaving Atlanta....did manage to make up about 45 minutes enroute, still over an hour late. Maybe it's just my dumb luck, but I find overseas flights to perpetually be 'delayed'.....that said, no way would I book an outbound plane from Heathrow for less than 3 hours after my expected arrival time. It's a huge airport, by the time you get your luggage, clear customs and manage to get clear to the other side of it you need to allow 90 minutes or so for just that. I'd say minimum 3...to be safeer 4. (Of course having said this your flight will no doubt be dead on time and you'll find yourself just hanging around waiting ).....still, I'd rather that than miss my flight and have that sick feeling of trying to make new arrangements after having flown all night.
