Hi everyone,
I feel like I've read this entire site twice, you guys are great about answering questions. Here's my situation:
I'm flying into Paris in late May. From there, my friend and I plan to take a train to Geneva, and then to Barcelona (with a few days in between, of course). We then have a flight from Barcelona to Venice, and we plan on hitting Venice, Florence, and finally Rome, which is where my flight home comes out of.
Now, it seems that I can get a 5 day 4-country flexi pass to cover this for $279, and I'll actually be left with an extra day (maybe I'll use it to go on a little side trip or something). However, I went on raileurope.com and tried pricing out the individual tickets, and it seems to almost come out even whether I buy a pass or buy the individual tickets. So what would everyone suggest I do? I know we'll have to pay resevation fees for some trains -- and we plan on getting a sleeper/couchette car on the train from Geneva to Barcelona. Are these reservation fees in addition to the price, regardless of whether you have a pass or individual ticket? Or does it actually make sense to buy the individual tickets so I don't have to pay reservation fees? I know we're talking about minor amounts here, but I want to get it right. Thanks!

Regardless of whether or not you have a pass (doesn't matter what kind) you still have to pay additional for reservations and for sleepers and couchettes. So it won't make a difference if you buy the pass, or point to point tickets.
