I was just wondering if there are any ferrys that go from the london area to the netherlands. My trip starts with Amsterdam but I found that the plane tickets are much cheaper when flying into London. Thanks....

No, you would want to fly from London to Amsterdam - the flights are dirt cheap. Check out www.easyjet.com/I put in a random date and for June, a one way ticket from London to Amsterdam was 12 pounds, plus taxes. Kim

Another possibility is www.basiqair.com - but it's probably not cheaper than EasyJet.

Even though you have to fly from Stansted or Luton (approximately £15 return by coach), it'll still work out cheaper than the ferry, especially when you consider that the nearest route to Holland is Harwich-Hook of Holland, meaning that you have to travel a considerable distance at both ends of the ferry crossing.
Personally, whenever my friends and I go to Amsterdam we only consider flying. Budget airlines are so cheap nowadays that they are really the most convienient and most sensible option (from a cost/benefit persepective). However, if money is really tight then you could get a coach from London to Amsterdam (cost around £30 return).
