I was just wondering how far in advance I should by my Eurail pass? Also what is the best/easiest way to go about buying one? Should I just get it online? If so how long would it take get it to me? or would it be best to go down to travel cuts & get one there? thanks!

Rail passes are really easy to buy online... Go to www.raileurope.com (or .ca if you are in Canada). It's pretty straight forward, and I'm pretty sure they'll get mailed/couriered to your house within a few days of purchasing. I say go ahead and buy the pass if you have the money now. It won't make a different in price if you buy it sooner than later, but I don't see any reason to wait till the week before you go! I would also advise you to buy the Rail Protection Plan when you purchase your pass. It's only like an extra $20, so if you were to have your pass lost or stolen while in Europe, Rail Europe will reimburse you for the portion of the unused pass. Hope that helps! ~Michelle

It doesn't matter when/how far in advance you purchase your pass....rates are set annually and won't change with the season. What it is now it will be next month or in August. (Occasionally they do run 'winter sales' but that is it) As for buying it over there once you arrive....IT CAN"T BE DONE! You must reside outside of Europe to get the pass rates. There are passes that are available to Europeans, but you won't qualify for those as you must reside in Europe. They have a couple of different shipping options, from more or less 'regular' mail to overnight. If you need really fast shipping they will charge you extra for it so don't wait too long to order.
