Anyone know what is involved in buying a car? Do you have to be a citizen to buy, register and insure a car in Europe? If not, what would be needed/what is the feasibility. My friend and I are planning to spend at least 3 months touring Europe and want to be able to see lots of off the beaten path locations. We figure the cost of Eurail passes for the two of us, plus buses/ferries (which we will still use especially buses when going to the big cities as we are aware having a car there can be a big time hassle) could be offset by a short term car purchase. Renting for that amount of time is out of our budget. We would plan to buy a small used car and sell it when we leave. Any thoughts/advice??
