They are taking such extreme precautions now I really don't think that there is too much to worry about. They are pretty much checking everyone, so don't be surprised if they take your temperature-they are being very sick in letting anyone in or out of the country that may be sick.
My boyfriends parents are in Toronto and are coming home in the next few days so I'll talk to them and see what the drill was at the airport and get back to you.
Definately tragic, however. We in BC seem to have our few cases in control but TO is such a major flight hub. Very sad.

From todays paper:
"Later this week, airline passengers in Toronto and Vancouver can expect to begin passing through infrared screening machines to catch signs of fever as blacklisted Canada steps up its fight against SARS.
...passengers whom the infrared machines detect to have spiked temperatures would be pulled from lines and questioned by nurses, doctors and quarantine officers stationed at the airport. There would also be a further temperature check and in some cases, passengers could be banned from flying."

Although an awareness and some extra precautions like washing your hands more frequently would be wise while in T.O. right now, there is absolutely NO reason to fear travelling to Toronto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I live near and will actually be in T.O. this evening ............ SARS is quite close to the last thing on my mind. I'll be shopping and hitting the clubs without any hesitation! GO - enjoy, it's a great place to be!

So I talked to the boyfriends parents and they said that there was absolutely no extra steps or checking being done at the moment at the TO airport. They said nothing was out of the ordinary whatsoever.
I agree that there is no reason not to travel to Toronto, the WHO has withdrawn the travel warning so I would go and have fun!
