Trekking across Europe with my money belt tighly around my waist, within sight in the shower and in my pillowcase as I sleep. What about the beach?? What am I supposed to do with my goods when I am in the water?? Lockers safe enough??

When my sister and I went to the Cinque Terre, we asked the b&b owner if he could keep our valuables in his safe (he did) and we left our passports there for the whole 4 days. The rest of the time, we left our valuables (less than 100 euros in cash + my camera) hidden in our bedroom.
On the beach itself, we brought only a minimum of stuff (sunscreen, bedroom key, a few euros for lunch, pareos) and left our things in clear view. We tried to keep an eye on them, but mostly we relied on our luck.

waterproof money belts? Those things gotta be HOT! I have always considered keeping it close very important but you have to be realistic. If you are on the beach with others that you trust, take turns with someone watching the towels and stuff. Usually in a group there will usually be at least one person who does not go in the water. Otherwise, you can go in the water and try and keep an eye on it.

this is also something that I have been pondering about lately, I'm sure I will figure something out for the shower problem, but the beach situation seems to attract my attention the most..
I don't know about you people but I dont' want to worry about my stuff while I'm on a beach, I would love to be able to take a nap and not worry about having something ripped off... so what i was thinking,
I plan on bringing the Wrapsafe, cable lock with me, this way even a small tree, or park bench, or anything solid, you could lock your day packs to. Plus if you have locks on your zippers I figure you should be fine even if you are 100 ft away in the water.
But I was also thinking that it would probably really make you look very touristy. and might make you stick out more as a target. ?
I also think that a water proof money belt would kind of feel wierd, but you could probably use your nomal money belt and just use a couple zip lock bags inside of it. I'm sure a money belt wouldn't take long to dry off after.
