He doesn't have a private jet, at least not in the sense of Air Force 1 or similar. Instead he usually tends to fly on the Queens flight (especially on official business) for shorthaul (it flies BAe 146s) and either chartered/modified BA 777s for long haul or RAF Tristars. They were talking about the PM's office leasing and heavily modifying a BA 777 for long term use (it would retain the BA branding from what I read), but I think that idea has fallen through in recent months.
This trip was a holiday, also he's received a lot of flak about using the Queens Flight for past holidays, as well as getting free accommodation etc, so in my opinion it's nothing but a publicity stunt, both for the PM's office and for Ryanair.

Absolutely! At least if he flew EasyJet he would have had a 20kg limit (instead of 15) and free hand luggage....clearly travelling light, eh Tony!

Turns out Ryanair aren't good enough for the PM after all and there is a distinct smell of publicity stunt in the air. He announced last week a new private aircraft similar to airforce one to use. Well now he can have as much hand luggage as he wants!
