This might be a stupid question, but when you have a Eurailpass, can you use it on any train in any train station? I'm looking at www.bahn.de for schedules, and see that trains go from several different stations to other different stations. On that site it says travelling from Berlin to Amsterdam will take 10 hours, but on the Eurail site, it says 6... Anyone know whats going on?

are these for the same train? if so, that is weird.
but, there are different kinds of trains. some will stop at every town; others will only stop at a few big cities - D train, up to ICE. it's a spectrum.
[there are also night trains, that offer couchette]

thanks for the help! I was also wondering how you find out if it is a D train, or ICE, because when I look up schedule times, I don't see info on that... Does anyone know if theres an easier way to see look up train schedules I CAN use with the Eurailpass? I'm finding this confusing for some reason...

its the row named "Products" at the timetable. RE is the cheapest (used only to bring you to a station where a ICE stops), IC, ICE or EC is your choice for longer distances. try to use the connection with less changes (row "Chg.") in between. or just use a plane

So if I take IC or ICE for longer trips, will it cost more even if i have a Eurailpass?

It will cost a few euro more, but not much. I took 4 ICE trains on my most recent trip, and the reservation supplements were only 2-6 euro a piece. You just make a reservation at the window in the station and tell them you have a eurail pass.

I just checked the link for the website you mentioned above. I too am trying to make train arrangments for my Oct. trip to Europe. Right now I am working on the Paris to Venice leg of my trip. I noticed that the website doesn't provide pricing however? Am I completely missing something?

that site is German rail. not a surprise that they don't include prices for trains in other parts of Europe.
if you can plan ahead, it might be cheap enough to fly <less than €50, or €60, depending on the airline> that it would be worth it to save a 10+ hour train ride, plus a day on your flexpass.
