I will be travelling from Paris to Munich hopefully in the beginning of August. I am interested in the night train. I will be travelling with a Eurail pass, but how much extra will it be and how far in advance should I reserve?

i would reserve the seat a few days before the day of departure. that way you won't forget about it and won't have to worry about it. also, it should not cost you too much to reserve the seat. from paris to interlaken (switzerland) it was about 5 euros. but if you want to reserve one of the bunkbeds on the train that can set you back at least 30+ euros.
