here's my plans... aug 10th - Amsterdam to Paris aug 12- Paris to Venice (overnight train) aug 15th- Venice to Florence aug 18 Florence to Rome I went to one of the site and that listed in the other threads and it suggested a 3 country 5 day youth pass....but it was $250 plus another $107 FOR TICKETS!! any suggestions on how I can get around cheaper?? (no flying) Thanks! Leena

That sounds about right. The ride from Amsterdam to Paris alone would cost over 100 alone so that's not terrible. Spending $350 on transportation isn't all that bad, to be honest.
Maybe check out Eurolines if you aren't opposed to the bus.

Try the railsaver site but leave out the ticket from Venice to Florence, and from Florence to Rome. You could do V to F for as little as about 17 Euros if you take the longer route. F to R is 29 Euros for the express train - not sure if there is a longer method. Try A to P on the www.thalys.com site. Try P to V on the overnight train, and the other Italy tickets, at www.trenitalia.com .
