I apologize if this is answered elsewhere, but I didn't find it. If so, please point me there.
But, do most people find they use their Train Pass for JUST longer trips, or daily trips as well.
Meaning, if I am in Europe for 2 months and spend 7 days or 10 days in one city......Will I want to use my pass for 'daypack' excursions as well, or only for longer trips.
I am basically trying to decide if we need 15 or FULL passes for 2 months.
I understand planing, etc will decide. But the basic question i'm asking is do the passes come in handy for short trips often, or not really?
THANKS!

Basically, you probably won't want to use a day of your pass for your daily exercusions. Most of the time these are cheap rides and wouldn't be worth it for you. If say you had a 15 day pass - divide the total cost of your pass by 15 and any trip that will end up costing you more than that, you would use a day for. I doubt that it would happen though as day trips are close by (hence them being day trips) so they don't cost as much as a day on a pass would.
If you are planning on spending muliple days in one city, you will want to get a Flexi pass not a Consecutive one. A Consecutive means that you would have a 15 day pass and you could travel all of those 15 days if you want. You want a Flexi pass, as in 15 days in 2 months.
