Quick question: Is it cheaper to buy point-2-point tickets at the station than buying them online in advance?

Hell no. Whilst it definitely depends on the country you're visiting, the vast majority have cheap tickets available online a few weeks before departure. The closer to departure you go, the higher the price, with the highest prices being on the train itself (in some countries, the UK especially, these prices can be nothing short of exorbitant).
Best thing is to book in advance, especially if you're sure you'll be catching a specific train. That way you'll pay less and will be guaranteed a seat.

Okay are rail passes still the best deal?
I will do most of my travel to, from or within Switerland and Austria. At the end of the trip I will go from Czech to Germany to Belgium.
Do any of these places rip you off, making rail passes worthless compared to P2P? Flight aren't much of an option since almost all travel is done within central Europe, nothing really long enough to have cheap flights offered.
Feedback appreciated.

the best answer is "sometimes." it depends on your plans. go to www.Railsaver.com and punch in your rail travel plans. Okay are rail passes still the best deal?

Well I don't have my plans set, plus I know RailSaver is great. What I meant though is that recently I've heard that some countries have fees when picking up/reserving a ticket which make the pass work out to cost more than tickets. Was wondering if anyone knew if the countries I listed fell into that category.
