just read this: www.theherald.co.uk/news/65917.htmlthis doesn't mean "don't fly Ryanair," just that you should have backup plans. ie, don't have a just in time flight to catch your flight home.

Thanks for that article. I agree - this doesn't mean don't fly Ryanair, but just consider contingency plans.
One other thing that can help - try not to take the last flight of the night. Problems are more likely to arise then. If you are flying out of a very small airport like Beauvais, and things go bad, you have very few, if any alternatives. At a larger airport, some other airline might be going where you need to go, if for a hefty price. Also consider buying travel insurance that covers this sort of problem.
And although it wouldn't have helped in this case, allow plenty of time for transport snafus and other inconveniences. I suggest planning to arrive at least two hours early for a Ryanair flight.
Although I have flown Ryanair twice without problems, I think that if a similarly convenient EasyJet flight was available I would take that instead, just because EasyJet seems to have many fewer of such stories.

I agree with you. I have flown RYanair and Easyjet and would pick Easyjet every time. I had a slight delay (3hrs) with Ryanair and this didn't really bother me too much but it was the atttitude of the staff. Get on, sit down and shut up. Now I appreciate that the delay was making them late getting home as well but it really put me off. If Ryanair was the most convienent flight that I could find I would still use them but I would pay slightly more to fly the same route with Easyjet. There are too many of these stories around about Ryanair.

thats some bad publicity. at berlin air the people working for press or any public media always get cheaper tickets, so you dont hear anything bad about them. smart plan, eh?!
