;DOk here the deal...
This is my first to Europe and I'm confused on the rail system. I bought a Eurail 3 Country Benelux/France/Italy 5 Day 2nd Class Youth Select pass, which was recommended by railsaver.com
But... I need to get from Paris to Venice overnight, in a couchette, on a train which is direct (no getting off the train). But when i go to different sites i am totally confused by the lingo and symbol.
Please help.... i want to reserve them in advance and i leave in 2 days!!
HEEELLLPPPP......hehe ;D

looking at the rail europe website it seems pretty straight forward. however it looks really expensive. it may be cheaper to purchase this once you arrive in paris? 123$ for a couchette is a lot. i did bordeaux-nice and it was 19 euro... even tho this is a longer trip it shouldn't be 5 times more expensive for the reservation...
although i've never reserved a train online. i always did it at the train station when i arrived.

I only have a few minutes to look tonight, so wasn't able to find a definite price for just the Couchette reservation for the train you require. In looking at the price that Jules found, I'm wondering if that's the price for the entire journey and not just the reservation??? $123 does sound a bit pricey for just a Couchette reservation.
As Jules suggested, you might be better to wait until you get there to reserve your spot. Visit the station the day before your trip, and you should be able to make the Couchette reservation at that time. Be sure to tell them that you have a Rail Pass. Hopefully you'll find a more reasonable price?
Be sure to let us know, as I'm sure the information will benefit others here.
Happy travels!!!

Look at Trenitalia.com . Then you can at least find the price for your overnight itinerary without a pass. Of course you wouldn't buy it there.
I haven't done it, but in this summer in which so many people are traveling, I'd be a bit concerned about not having an overnight train reservation in advance.

i agree with jules. it would be best if you reserved at the station. once you get to paris get to the station and just reserve it. that way you can spend the rest of your stay in paris concentrating on seeing the sites and not worrying about reserving your seat. that price you mentioned is quite expensive.
