So are tennis shoes not a good idea? Also if I wanted to go out to the bars at night what kind of shoes would I wear if I am only bringing walking shoes and walking sandals? Does the fashion matter at all? (sorry if that sounds stupid), but i want to look cute if i go out at night! I am thinking about the new balances. were they to hot to where during the day? I have tons of questions!

I wouldn't necessarily say to not wear tennis shoes. Try walking around in them outside for a few hours for a few days and see if they suit you. If they do, then you know you have a good pair of shoes to take with you. But I really recommend giving them a very good trial before you commit to taking them.
For cute shoes, it's hard to say, because it depends on your packing preferences. But based on reports here, almost every woman finds herself more comfortable if she packs light. Having to heave around extra weight can be quite unpleasant when you are on a train or on public transit, etc.

I brought 2 pairs of shoes on my trip, a pair of new balance all terrain and a pair of nike slip ons (they don't look like sneakers so they'd be good for clubbing). i ended up sending the nikes home since no one seemed to care about me wearing the new balance. they held up amazingly well.

in retrospect, i think those Raichle shoes are too heavy. lighter weight would prolly have been better, less to carry on my feet! - d these worked ok on the trip. the fit was less than wonderful, but that's my fault.
