Ryanair are offering 4 million free seats on all it's european routes from the UK for travel in the next six months. That's until 24th March 2007 but not including the christmas period and school half terms. You will basically have to pay the taxes and fees it should come to less than £20 for any route. BUT you must book by Midnight (BST) Thursday 14th September. That's THIS Thursday. www.ryanair.com/site/EN/news.php?yr=06&month=sep&story=pro-en-110906I think they do this every year and I don't know if you can get flights this cheap at other times of the year but I hope this help some one out ;D.

So much for being free tee-hee!
I'm scared to fly Ryan Air. I've heard so many horror stories about that airline! The fact that their hubs are so far away from the main cities sort of adds a damper to travellers' trips!

You shouldn't be scared to fly Ryanair, they are safe.
I've heard horror stories with every airline. If it happens, it happens, no matter what, where, when or how.
True though that some airports are far from the city. The best thing to do is to count how much it will cost to get from your hotel to the next hotel in the next city and see if Ryanair still ends up being cheaper!
xoxo Good luck Jen

One advantage of a small airport - it takes about 5 minutes to get your luggage, and about 1 minute to walk out the front door. Try that at Charles de Gaulle in Paris! If the airport is far out, Ryanair usually has a bus arrangement that takes you right to the city centre in comfort. Do check the latest on whatever Ryanair's latest luggage rules are, and don't attempt to test the limits of what is allowed. Make sure you are there in plenty of time for check-in. If they say they close the counter 40 minutes before check-in, it doesn't matter if you have been standing in line for some time waiting your turn - you will be out of luck.

I don't mind flying budget airlines but all the reviews about RyanAir and their strict baggage makes me wary of them. I am still using easyJet - only for the fact that they simply have flights to/from the destinations I want. RyanAir doesn't so I'm just sticking with easyJet and pray to the travel Gods that I won't be screwed! LOL!

Thanks for the link. There's some seriously tempting prices there.... I'm considering a long weekend in Pisa or something, although it's definitely work dependant . Ryanair aren't that bad either. It's pretty much just media hype and scaremongering. If there was any chance of them being dangerous then the EU would have grounded their airline a long time ago.

I think I'm going to stick with easyJet for the time being because I've heard better things about them but RyanAir's pretty much my backup airline and if they put our new destinations that easyJet doesn't offer or have a much lower price than easyJet for that particular day, I'd jump on it. It's all about weighing the pro's and con's!

As per Muvva, Ryanair aren't dangerous, just not super friendly or efficient - but hey, you want a cheap seat, not an in-flight foot massage.
Having said that, I'm not a fan (for various reasons), but if they are offering free flights then even I would jump at the chance. EasyJet are a little more organised. I guess it depends on the destination and price at the time you want to travel. Remember, they both keep prices down by flying into airports with lower landing taxes, thus they are often further out of large cities or located in smaller (but interesting) towns (see Carcassonne). On a positive note, Ryanair have finally upped their baggage allowance from 15kg to 20kg - always a good thing!

Just a little note I don't know if this fits in here but Easyjet are having a bad time with flight out of Newcastle (UK) at the moment. Many flights are being delayed. I don't know how serious these delays are (few hours or more ). They are understaffed for the number of new routes that they have added flying from Newcastle. I have never had a problem with Easyjet and I agree with most comments above about them being more friendly and better organised than say Ryanair. I would have absolutley no hesitation flying Easyjet every time. However if you a flying from Newcastle be aware that they have been experiencing problems that could cause mayhem if you have connecting bus/train/flight ect to catch.
