Hi again everyone, just wondering if there is an airline that flys from Prague to Lucerne? Or anywhere in Switzerland really?

not sure if any do a direct flight; easyJet flys from Prague to Geneva and Basel. (does Luzern have a commercial airport?) From Basel airport to Luzern takes a ¼ hr bus from the airport <which is actually in France, as i understand> to the train station, and a 70 min. train from Basel's station to Luzern. if you find flights from Prague to Zürich, that'd be better. Zürich is the closest international airport. Ah, per www.luzern.org Mit dem Flugzeug: Die internationalen Flughäfen von Zürich, Basel und Genf liegen nur wenige Autostunden von Luzern entfernt und sind mit direkten Schnellzügen bestens erreichbar.By air: the international airports of Zürich, Basel and Geneva are just few hours drive fron Lucerne and are best reached with direct express trains. Distanzen: Flughafen Zürich: 65 km Flughafen Genf: 250 km Flughafen Basel: 110 kmDistances: Airport Zürich: 65 km Airport Geneva : 250 km Airport Basel: 110 km

Prague to Geneva is good too - we just want to go somewhere in Switzerland! but, Geneva is more than twice as far from Luzern as Basel. something to think about. edit: there are also places where the closest airport is in another contry! to Luzern, between Basel and Geneva, Basel's airport is closer despite being in France. or, do you want to visit Geneva, too?

Last time I checked Basel was still in Switzerland (I don't think they sold it to the French). But the airport (Basel-Mulhouse Airport or EuroAirport) is located on the border, they have special parkinglots for cars from France and from Switzerland.
Flybaboo is a swiss airline, with not many flights, but they have regular flights between Prague and Geneva, and they seem to have good prices as well (around 45 euro's incl taxes)

Last time I checked Basel was still in Switzerland (I don't think they sold it to the French). ;D i was referring to the airport, not Basel itself ;D For those who may not know the area, Basel is at the Swiss-German-French border. the northern section of Basel, Basel Bad, is actually in Germany. [Basel is a Swiss city, parts of which almost surrounded by Germany, other parts border France. the EuroAirport, which is in France, carries the name Basel-Muhlhouse-Freiburg. as is often the case, the airport is know by the first word in the name. (DFW, Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport, is often referred to by outsiders as "Dallas," despite the fact that Dallas has its own, much older, airport.)]

(does Luzern have a commercial airport?) Luzern doesn't have a commercial airport - the best you'll get are organised airport transfers to/from other airports in the country. Better to fly to another desitination (as listed above) and train it from there. chelle84, if you want somewhere pretty in Switzerland, perhaps consider the area around Interlaken - eg Gimmelwald, Murren, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Stechelberg, etc, or Luzern. These are all easily reached by train from Zurich airport and, as David pointed out, are not as far south as Geneva. If I remember correctly, you were thinking of spending 3-4 days there, so an area like this will provide lots to see and do from one base.
