I was in Italy last year and I remember that even though I had a railpass, I still had to pay supplements on about half of my train trips. Getting ready for my trip this summer, I was just wondering how you know when you actually need to pay a supplement. Last time I just stood in line each time to make sure, but I'm thinking I'd be better off just getting on in case they miss something and I wouldn't have to shell out the extra euro.
