Hi Annisha, Don't be scared ... be excited. As far as I can see, there are two cheap options if you want to fly Naples - Athens. Allitalia, and AirOne www.alitalia.com/nl_en/ / www.flyairone.it/en/. Both airliners can take you from Naples to Athens, prices vary each day, but you might find a ticket between 100 and 125 euros. The cheapest way to reach to Athens, that I know about is to fly Milan - Athens, by RyanAir. (but I don't know if your itinary, would allow that). Another option would be to fly Olympic Airways from Rome. Ferries to Greece will take about 15 hours, but most of them will travel at night, so you can sleep most of the journey, but you will have to continue the trip by train to reach Athens.

I have never been there, so I can't give you an answer to that question. Usually in these kind of cities, if differs from neighborhood to neighborhood.
If you don't feel comfortable staying there, choose and other option, you could stay at some other places on the coast.

Actually, it's easyJet that flies from Milan to Athens. Not sure if Ryan Air flies to Athens at all.
Keep in mind that the earlier you buy your ticket, the cheaper it will be.

Hehehe. We all have our days!
I wish Ryan Air and easyJet would offer more flights to other regions in Greece - makes it more accessible!

You will be suprised how many German airlines like Germanwings, Condor, LTU, Air Berlin, HLX have destinations in Greece, but only in the summer season.
But most people will not think about taking the plane to Athens from Berlin, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf or München, when they are planning their trip. (and yet they do take the train to Amsterdam, that takes even longer than the plane to Athens!)

Yeah, I was surprised at the number of German budget airlines that charter to Athens. I wish the other airlines would follow suit! But I think the near future, it's a possibility!
My only dream is to have budget airlines servicing the Greek Islands that way we can all save ourselves time and money on the ferries and getting to the mainland to take the flight out of Greece. Speaking of which, I have purchased my Athens-Santorini ticket with Aegean this evening. So I'm all done with my flight-booking portion of the trip. Next stop: accomodations.... and I know it'll be a drag LOL!

Ahh ... in a perfect world, maybe ...
but being on a boat, travelling from one island to the other, is a good way to travel if you want to relax. After seeing a lot of cities, having deadlines to make the next connection by train of plane, not a bad way to prepare for the more relaxed atmosphere on a Greece Island.
Happy planning

Annisha, www.aegeanair.com/ has flights from Rome to Athens. Rome isn't too far from Naples. trains go from Naples to Rome FCO taking as little as 2¼ hrs. unfortunately, those Aegean Air tix aren't that cheap. so, i'd suggest looking into cheap flights to Athens from other cities you might also want to visit. perhaps Prague, Vienna, Amsterdam or any number of cities in Germany. Paris even has flights to Athens from Orly. just plan your trip to visit some other place between Naples & Athens. [but, a place that offers low cost tix to Athens, and from Naples] oftentimes, with flights, the cheapest path between point A & point B *isn't* a straight line.
