hey all,
I am arriving in Greece at 2:30 in the morning their time and I have no idea what to do with myself when I arrive. My friend is arriving the next day at around 4:00 in the afternoon. Do I just wait around for him or should I venture out and try to find a place to sleep. I have never been to Greece before and not sure if it would be okay to stay in the airport.
Thanks, - Jim

I wouldn't recommend sleeping at Athens airport - seats aren't comfortable and whilst the airport doesn't close, there's not much in the way of food, etc. The taxis will still be at the front and should cost around Euro40 to the centre of town (if you stay out at Glyfada it will be cheaper). Here's their website if you want information www.aia.gr/EN/default.asp. But what I would suggest is booking accommodation before you arrive as at most places the reception will be closed at 2.30 in the morning (except larger hotels and hostels) or you'll have to wake the night porter up! Why not book a room for 2 nights (for when your friend arrives), let them know that you'll be arriving early in the morning (you'll pay for a room for that night/day as well as the next night) and that way you have somewhere to go as soon as you arrive rather than wandering the streets of a city you're not familiar with.
