Hi,
I'm currently planning a backpacking trip to Europe for next spring/summer (approximately 3 months) and am trying to figure out how I want to get around when I'm over there. This is what I've planned so far:
FLIGHTS:
1. London to Edinburgh
2. Edinburgh to Dublin
3. Dublin to Lisbon
4. Lisbon to Madrid
5. Barcelona to Naples
6. Paris to London
RAILPASS TRAINS: (15 day/2 month pass)
1. Madrid to San Sebastian (night train)
2. San Sebastian to Barcelona (night train)
3. Naples to Rome
4. Rome to Siena (day stopover) and Siena to Florence
5. Florence to Pisa (day trip)
6. Florence to La Spezia
7. La Spezia to Milan (day stopover) and Milan to Venice
8. Venice to Verona (day trip)
9. Venice to Interlaken
10. Interlaken to Munich
11. Munich to Salzburg
12. Salzburg to Vienna
13. Berlin to Amsterdam (night train)
14. Amsterdam to Bruges
15. Bruges to Paris
TRAINS (NOT W/ RAILPASS):
1. San Sebastian to Pamplona/Pamplona to San Sebastian (we're paying for this one as we figure we'll be spending a lot less money in Spain than in Italy)
2. Naples to Sorrento/Sorrento to Naples (Circumvesuviana)
3. Sorrento to Pompeii/Pompeii to Sorrento (Circumvesuviana)
4. La Spezia to Riomaggiore/Riomaggiore to La Spezia
BUS:
1. Lisbon to Lagos/Lagos to Lisbon
FERRY:
1. Sorrento to Capri/Capri to Sorrento
Does this sound structured in the best way possible to make the most of the railpass and flights and such? This is my first trip so I'm not sure about the best way to get around and whats the best value and such - any input would be appreciated.
My main question is Prague. I planned on going "Vienna to Prague to Berlin" but didn't realize that the Czech Republic isn't included in the railpass. Prague was one of my top destinations in planning this trip so I don't want to cut it out ... is it best just to buy point to point tickets for this leg of the trip, or is there a bus that anybody knows of? I read about this "Prague Excursion Youth Pass" - one roundtrip from any Czech Republic border to Prague within 7 days ($79.00 CAD) but I'm not quite sure I understand how it works and if thats what I want. Anybody have any input on it?
Thanks in advance
Cheers!!
