Fly with RyanAir... it's the most convenient, time-saving and likely the cheapest way!

Fly with RyanAir... it's the most convenient, time-saving and likely the cheapest way! but, don't be wedded to Ryanair! there are several airlines that fly from Dublin to England. [where in England do you want to go?] based on what i've read here, & elsewhere, Ryanair has one of the worst reps out there for customer service. i'd be inclined to try to find another carrier. if London is your destination, Aer Lingus also offers flights. [has anyone heard any more news about the Ryanair attempt to buy Aer Lingus?]

Ryanair, BMI and Aer Lingus are all flying to London. If you want to get to other places in the UK, then also check AerArann and FLybe.com
Like you mention a boat is also possible. Then you are most likely heading for Holyhead or Liverpool. (Also possible is to go to Douglas on the Isle of Man). Check Stena Lines and Irish Ferries, for possibilities

Fly it. Whilst you could get the ferry to Holyhead or Fishguard it's not really worth it unless you're taking your own car.

how long do you need from the london ryan-airport to london city center? they dont fly to london intl airport, but some much smaller airport outside london as far as i know - so you should add some hours travel time and some $$$ for the bus, train or taxi.

per google maps, Luton is 34 miles from London. Stanstead is 38 miles from London. Luton & Stanstead are the 2 London area airports from which Ryanair flies. didn't look at train times.
if you have an option, another airline might be better. Ryanair has a horrid rep for miserable customer service. per wikipedia (i know, i know, not the most reliable of sources) it has, at times, been the subject of more complaints than any other airline in the EU!
wikipedia also describes Ryanair as the European equivalent of Southwest. yet, Southwest has a pretty good rep for customer service!
