I'm in need of purchasing some tickets for trains within the Uk. I need to get from London to Norwich & then Norwich to Edinburgh.
I've searched trainsonline.co.uk and found what I'm looking for but I am unable to purchase them online. They ask for my postal code & then say there was an error. I'm not sure if it's because I'm trying to buy then from Canada or what but it won't work.
So my question is, is there a way for me to buy tickets online from Canada? Or am I better off waiting until I'm in the Uk to buy the tickets? my only thought with that is that the trains might be full or I'd end up paying way more.
Thoughts and or suggestions?
Thanks!

Jordan, my preference would be to buy the train tickets when in the U.K., as it's probably a lot simpler (and perhaps cheaper) than buying online. I'm assuming you're not using a Britrail Pass?
What I normally do is buy the tickets for my outgoing journey when I arrive in a particular location (seems like the logical thing to do, since I'm at the station anyway).
I don't know if you'll "pay a lot more", but hopefully some of our U.K. members can advise on that? If you're on a really limited budget, you could also consider National Express Coach (Bus), as the costs are quite reasonable (although of course they're not as fast as the train).
Cheers!

Jordan - try www.thetrainline.com. Not sure if that's UK only though. Buying train tickets at short notice usually means you'll pay more, but not hugely so. Take for example London to Cardiff (a route I normally do at least monthly) - in advance you'll pay about £27 return, on the day it's about £50, so not a huge difference. Eagle's strategy is definitely what I'd advise though - that way you should be able to get some cheaper tickets. Check out National express too, although I'm personally not a fan they can be pretty cheap.
