hi, i was checking out the eurail pass and its pretty expensive, even the youth pass. i ve read many places that you can buy point to point tickets and that those are cheaper or buy national trains that are cheaper. where can i find information about this, because i cant find webpages on other trains that dont belong to the eurail. the other thing is, should we go without an eurail pass to europe? what if we cant find tickets later? we only have 3-4 days in each city and we dont want to loose one because we couldnt find a place in the train. im going in february by the way. can you help me? thanks!
sorry if my english isnt correct...

This should help you: railsaver.com/railsaver.aspPlug in your itinerary and it should tell you if you should stick to buying P-2-P tickets or a pass.

judging on your initerary that you posted (4 connections), I think a railpass would be too expensive to consider.
barcelona paris brussels and bruges prague vienna
Barcelona - Paris: A cheap flight with Vueling, should do the trick. Don't consider RyanAir they fly from Girona to Beauvais airport, both rather far away from the cities.
Paris - Brussels/Brugge - Normal traintickets will do. There is a fast train (Thalys), between Paris and Brussels, but there also should be cheaper trains running. Another option could be to go by bus (Eurolines)
Brussels - Prague: Check if you can find some cheap flights from either Brussels Airport (Zaventem) or Brussels-South (Charleroi): Check: Brussels Airlines and SkyEurope.
Prague - Vienna: Normal trainticket will do. (I am even not sure if Eurail covers the Czech Republic, so even with a pass you could be facing the costs to buy a ticket until the bordercrossing.)

point-to-point tix? i always just buy them at the train station.
it's a good idea to buy them a few days ahead; especially in Southern Europe.

for example the day i arrive in barcelona get my ticket to paris (three days later), will i have trouble getting them? It's always wise to get them when you arrive in a city, you most likely arrive at the trainstation, or are transported from the airport to a trainstation, so I would take advantage of that, and reserve a ticket, when you are there. For Barcelona - Paris: I hope that you only use it as an example, as the trip by train is rather long. Tickets for the flight with Vueling are as cheap as 20 euros including all taxes !! (5 flights a day)

ok, so planes are cheaper...are they reliable? we are thinking about taking one from our last location to barcelona so that we dont have to take a long train ride... so maybe we can do that with paris... the only thing is that the plain gets to barcelona at 5 pm, and our plane back to argentina gets off at 930 pm... is it reliable? cuz if the plane gets delayed with miss our flight... we could take it the day before, but that would mean cutting one day from our last city... im sorry i have so many questions... ive never been to europe...planes here get delayed all the time because of weather conditions...

ok, so planes are cheaper...are they reliable? one advantage of open-jaw tix is that there's no need to return to the same city for the flight home. that's a valid worry, that your flight back to Barcelona might be delayed. is there any way to get the flight back to Barcelona on the same airline as your transatlantic flight? that way, if the 1st flight is late, you can just say "it's *your* fault that i couldn't catch my transatlantic flight!" perhaps it'd be better to fly back to Barcelona a day early?

we could take it the day before, but that would mean cutting one day from our last city... On the bright side, that means having one day to explore Barcelona. If possible always try to fly from your last city. For an intercontinental flight, I would at least arrive a day earlier, but it would be better to make the city you depart from, as a city you also visit.

i looked into open-jaw tickets but they are like $300 or $400 more than the others. about one day in barcelona it would be ok, but it would eliminate one day from the last city, plus we are gonna stay in barcelona 3 days at the beginning of the trip... maybe we could stay two days at the beginning and make the third day at the end... about the tickets from the same airline i havent checked but im gonna... thanks all for all your ideas!!! ... maybe we could stay two days at the beginning and make the third day at the end... this is prolly the best option. about the tickets from the same airline i havent checked but im gonna... even if they are on the same airline, i'd suggest that you ask, specifically, if you are delayed getting to Barcelona because of the flight from the last stop being late, will the airline take responsibility and rebook your flight home without charge to you.
