Hey folks,
I'm currently living in London for the semester and I have a two-week travel break approaching in the beginning of December. I'd like to visit Greece, but it appears to be very difficult to get there.
At the time when I'll want to go, I should either be in France or Spain. What are the best ways (and cheapest!) to get to Greece from western Europe?

look at www.whichbudget.com/ to see which airlines have good fares. it'd help if you could nail down from which airport you'd want to fly asap.

strygun, I trust you're visiting mainland Greece and not the islands? Things are all but closed down on the islands during Winter - Athens and surrounds are still worth visiting however.

Hey... I would probably fly out of Madrid or Barcelona in Spain. I've heard there's a ferry from Italy to Greece that might be cool, but it takes 3 days. I'll look into it, but not sure if I want to spend that much time on the boat.

In the summer time, there are lots of flights going to Greece, but in the Wintershedule, these flights are less frequent, and most budget companies don't fly these routes at all. A Clickair flight from Barcelona would be a good guess.

The ferries from Italy to Greece leave from various ports along the Adriatic so they don't all take three days (some are only overnight). However, as you're coming from Spain, I'd also suggest flying. Check herrbert's suggestion of Clickair, or try Vueling as they still fly during Winter but only on some days of the week, not daily.

I hadn't noticed that Vueling is already flying on Athens ... but they are expanding really fast the last 2 years.
